The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is in full swing at GGPoker with players having access to many online poker tournament options. There are gold bracelets up for grabs and everyone hopes to gain one, especially within the Main Event. The highlight of the series has began with the first flight now finished up.
Event #33 saw 437 players competing in the first flight with 61 players moving on to Day 2. The second day of the event will not take place until September 26 since there are several more Day 1s left to go!
Moving On With Big Chip Counts
Of the 61 players moving on to Day 2, there are several who have nice chip counts. Three players were able to surpass the one million mark, setting themselves up nicely for Day 2. The top player is known as Sheogorath and has a stack of over 1.4 million chips.
David Yan was the next chip earner, bagging over 1.3 million. Online poker player Lexandru came in next with 1.1 million. This is a good jumping off point and gives a little cushion once the next day of gaming rolls around in September.
Top players were also in the mix with Marco Streda, Renan Bruschi, and Ryan Riess all landing in the 600,000+ range. All eyes will be on Riess as the event gets underway in September, as he already almost won a WSOP bracelet earlier in the year. Heh also won the Main Event in 2013 so if he is able to win the event again it would be his second Main Event title.
Main Event Flights Continue
The WSOP Online Main Event at GGPoker is set up to be huge, with Day 1s continuing for several weeks. Players can compete in Day 1s on September 4, 11, 18, 20, 22, 24, and 25. Day 2 will see players who made it through Day 1 return to the virtual felt at 6 pm on September 26.
Players are competing for $20,000,000 in total prize money, and depending on how many players register, the event will meet this guarantee and possibly surpass that amount. It will be interesting to see once the Day 1s are over just how much prize money players will be competing for and what the first-place winner will bag along with the coveted gold bracelet.
Either way, the winner will certainly be set up to earn a life-changing amount of money by winning this online WSOP event! We shall see if a pro will claim the title or perhaps this time it will be an amateur player!
