Macau integrated resort developer and operator Sands China Ltd (HKEx: 1928), has confirmed the launch of the first part of the phased opening of The Londoner Macao, its US$2 billion reimagining of the Sands Cotai Central.

Announced via press release on Tuesday, the company said an official ceremony will be held in “early February,” and is to open progressively throughout 2021.

London-theme:

Included in the first phase, the company will unveil the all-suite The Londoner Hotel, Crystal Palace atrium, new dining options, and interactive London-themed attractions. The Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) subsidiary is also responsible for the nearby The Venetian Macao, The Plaza Macao, Sands Macao and The Parisian Macao properties.

President and Chief Operating Officer for Las Vegas Sands, Robert Goldstein, said…

“Our investment in The Londoner Macao is a clear signal that we believe Macao’s future as one of the world’s most important leisure and business destinations remains on course. With spectacular London-themed accommodation, dining, shopping, entertainment and landmarks, The Londoner Macao will offer our guests another new and exciting experience while further illustrating our commitment to Macao and the expansion of its tourism offerings.”

Property features:

In addition to existing properties Conrad Macao, Sheraton Grand Macao, and The St. Regis Macao, the Londoner Macao comprises two new all-suite hotels, The Londoner Hotel and Londoner Court, which will reportedly open later in 2021, and features five world-class hotel brands with 6,000-plus guestrooms, three spas and four health clubs, a diverse range of British, Asian and international dining options, including a gastropub by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, among others, and a new 6,000-seat arena, rebranded and expanded retail space, landmarks, live entertainment and more.

The two top two floors of the Londoner Hotel incorporate 14 exclusive Suites by David Beckham, British icon and Sands Resorts Macao global ambassador, to be launched later in 2021.

Gaming possibilities:

It has been reported that there won’t be any major changes to the more than 365,000 square feet of gaming space located within The Londoner Macao, however, it could eventually include an expanded collection of up to 2,000 slots and 450 gaming tables.

President of Sands China Ltd, Dr. Wilfred Wong said…

“Sands China Ltd. has a successful track record of creating themed properties in Macao, and The Londoner Macao joins The Venetian®Macao and The Parisian Macao as Asia’s top destinations for both the leisure and MICE markets. London is an iconic city and we anticipate this addition will further raise the profile of Macao while increasing the number of visitors as our other flagship properties have done.”

New Year availability:

According to the press release, the booking period for The Londoner Hotel began accepting room reservations from Dec. 15, 2020, for availability from Jan. 22, 2021.

Back in June, Sands China announced that it expected the first stage of the development to be finished by the end of September, followed by a further update in August informing that the opening would be postponed until the number of visitors crossing the border into Macau increases.
